Being one of Monga's department head sure is no small task. There is most certainly a lot of responsibility involved and crew members to look after. Well, at this stage one would ponder if its actually easier to work independantly as an individual.. but I for one would rather not go through this alone. I prefer working with a team, so that the pain can be shared and we can be each others sheild.
Its barely been two weeks since editorial work kicked off and political backdoors have already formed. Less lethal ones at this point. They should learn to know that the entire Monga board now stands on three pillars, the editors, the designers and the photographers. Surprisingly, there is such a thing as a Head of Writers but that doesnt count much except being part of the boards foundation. A department head would need to maintain cool at all times and take precautions on not acting too harsh. At least I know we can rely on CW to do all the fire blasting when we really wanna prove something. Alvin's quite reliable too since he mingles well in different environments.
Design planning alone took up one hour of board meeting and several group discussions later on. Front page design took around a week but I guess its normal since were going for a new look in Monga's aim to create its own identity. This front cover was made possible thanks to idea input from Tseng Yang and the editorial board mainly, so many thanks to them. Currently the design orders is to standardize everything this year, so no more colourful Monga pages for now.
Right now, its important for all the department heads to get all the help they can get. Tseng Yang's side is very close to being shorthanded just like mine so I hope new recruitment comes in soon for everyones sake. CW can take pictures too so I find it possible to back each other up for now. Anyhow, as long as the leaders remain reliable and just to their department crew, I see a clear path for the board to move ahead.
